About the Author
Pat Elder got her first horse when she was twelve, a palomino and white paint named Coco. By sixteen, Pat was training professionally, starting 2-year-olds under saddle, retraining problem horses, and showing in halter and performance classes such as Western Pleasure, Showmanship, Trail, Reining, and Pleasure Driving. She bought her first Miniature Horse as a pet in 1992, and quickly fell in love with the breed. Now, she owns Rosa Roca Training Stable in Oklahoma City and professional trains Miniature Horses and Shetland Ponies for halter and performance.
A published author with a love of researching, Pat believes strongly that understanding a horse's ancestry can promote better breeding or purchasing decisions, and can also add to a horse's marketability.

Rare for an international breeder/trainer/exhibitor to share their secrets!

Pat Elder has the credentials and clout to command the highest fees for her expertise in miniature horse breeding, selecting, care, training and showing. Her love of the industry brings her to share the secrets most top trainers don't share even with their clients! Show season is just starting, improve your results with advice from the best! For beginners this is the way get started in the right direction and avoid bad barn advice.

For someone wanting to not only get started showing miniature horses in halter, but also for general training tips, Pat Elder is the go to girl! Her instructions are easy to understand, and actually work! After reading this book, I feel much more confident about putting my horse in the ring! There are great pictures to illustrate the instructions, along with everything you need to know from catching your horse to preparing it for show to what the judges look for in a champion. Definitely a up to date go to book for anyone interested in this sport!

This is an excellent book. It is very easy to read and understand. All of the questions I needed to know about showing my miniature horse she has in this book. I would highly recommend this book.
