I think this is a wonderful book for Christian girls who want to grow in their faith but don't know how. It makes prayer so attractive and easy! After reading this book, you will want to pray, I guarantee it. Every teenage Christian girl should read this book.

This book is O.K. I'm not going to say it's great. Susie Shellenburger, the editor of Brio magazine has helpful things to say in this book, but the way she shares it (conversation form) can get a little confusing, and annoying. At some points, it's hard to follow. I also worry that it might be hard to relate to. You had to be in almost the same position as the girl for it to help. If she had written this information down as a devotional form, I believe it could be a great book, however, the way she chose turned me away.

Not For My Girl

I was excited to review this book; in hopes to pass it along to my preteen daughter. I read the book over a few days. I had an uneasiness with the book, but couldn't pinpoint what it was. I have read and heard Shellenberger's message over the years; and have always been pleased with what she brings to today's female youth. I left the book bedside hoping that my husband would take a look at it to; and help me figure out what was giving me the apprehensiveness about this read. This book is written directly at teenage girls, asking questions and needing answers about what God is thinking. First of all, who can know what God is thinking? Is He not perfect and omniscient; and doesn't His own inerrant Word state that, "In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." (I Corinthians 2:11) I feel that it is a far stretch for an author to calculate what God is thinking. Although, for the most part, the advice in the book is sound; there is added jargon that isn't from God's mouth. But, I do not disregard this work as a whole. I do think that the topics are relevant (they include heavy-hitters: divorce, media, cutting, eating disorders, sex, pornography and persecution). If a parent were considering this book for her daughter, I would consider reading it first to ensure it falls in line with your belief system and what is taught in your household. The book will give your daughter timely encouragement. Though, I'm quite unsure it will hold her attention. Some of the chapters are filled with banter and are lead-footed in getting to the point. Will I give this book to my daughter? Probably not. Would I give it to a girl that has delved deep into the secular world and doesn't have a parent or Christian mentor to go to? Likely. His Best Yet

I've read all three of Wyatt Webb's books and I feel that this is his best work.

And..the five steps (included in all three of his books) to help deal with fear and self doubt have helped me move out of a place of truly not knowing what to do when I have anxiety or panic to actually having a tool to help myself out of those awful places.

This book has helped me empower myself!

Real Nuts & Bolts Time Management

This fine book stands alone as a real "nuts & bolts" guide to time management. Refreshingly, Griessman does not ask the reader to buy into an integrated or even singular "System" of managing your time. There are no self tests, no "12 Step" program, no gimmicks.
Quite simply, this book is about survival. If your boat were sinking or you were lost in the wilderness, the last thing you would want (or have time to read) would be a lengthy treatise on the theory of bouyancy or how people get lost. Rather, Griessman instructs from the outset that you "Learn survival techniques from the survivors."
In this vein, Griessman's approach is decidedly simple: 1)These are successful people; 2) Here are specific tactics that they use to save time and survive; 3) You fill in the blank. This format is woven into 15 short chapters with an accompanying commentary which is almost editorial in nature. This provides just enough cohesion in the book to give it structure, without detracting from its readability.
If you're looking for a lengthy treatise on time management, riddled with charts, self tests and lengthy explanations about why you don't have enough time, then leave this book on the shelf. "Time Tactics" is really a field manual - the same kind of lean, to the point writing you'd hope to find in a life raft.

Highly useful! A good reminder of easy tools to save time

Unlike most time management books going from chapter to chapter that lead readers to plan, set and prioritize their personal goals, treating time management problems essentially as life management problems, this book consists of 15 chapters of 96 short essays or tactics that you can easily apply to our daily lives. What a pity that Amazon does not post sample pages as it usually does which includes the Content pages so you can easily understand what kind of book this is, I take the pleasure to do it for you and hope it will help you grasp what the book tells.

If B. Eugene Griessman wanted a good subtitle for this book of time-saving tactics, he could use, "Time waits for no one." He offers many common-sense pointers on how to avoid wasting your time - and how to keep others from wasting it, too. It's eye-opening to realize and calculate the value and importance of every hour, even your leisure time. People in all walks of life - students, stay-at-home parents, business leaders, teachers, self-employed workers - can glean ideas for using time effectively from this book. If you are a procrastinator, this book will encourage you to "do it now." While some of the suggestions here may seem too simplistic to those who already employ some time-management tactics, we [...] recommend this book for inveterate - if inadvertent - time-wasters. You know who you are.
